The Government appears to be consulting on scrapping the entire Equality Act, which includes ALL anti-discrimination legislation in the UK, which protects LGB&T people from being fired for being LGB&T, amongst many other important protections. Click on the link below to post your comments:
http://www.redtapechallenge.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/equalities/.

This is part of a new website to encourage the public to tell the Government where to cut red tape.  One of the first areas to be examined includes the Equality Act – and one of the suggestions requiring comment is to scrap the Act altogether to cut unnecessary bureaucracy on business and the public sector.

Obviously the scrapping of the Equality Act would be disastrous for everyone.

Therefore can I urge you to please go on to the website and leave your own comments about why the Equality Act is important, and please encourage your staff and supporters to respond too.

Please distribute this far and wide amongst any and all networks you have access to. It doesn't’t have to be an overlong comment, but it is important that we register our support for the Equality Act.

Lancashire Mental Health Services Review:

The local NHS is seeking the views of service users, careers, groups, networks and interested members of the public to help shape the future of mental health and dementia services in Lancashire. If you wish to complete the survey online simply go to www.feedbacksurveys.org.uk/nh's

It is important that these views are heard and that everyone who wishes to be involved has the chance to have their say. The survey has been developed in partnership with the Lancashire Mental Health Partnership Service User and Career Involvement Group.

Responses will remain completely confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes. Background information about the review of services can be found here

A consultation on how care services can be funded in future, in the face of budget pressure:

Lancashire County Council is expected to reduce its spending by 26% over the coming four years.  Although the county council has taken significant actions to reduce its costs, the savings required are so significant that administrative savings on their own will not deliver what is required.  In the area of adult social care the county council has to actively consider a number of actions, including:

See a copy of the charging policy here

We are asking you to let us have your views about these important issues; to contribute to our thinking about what the least worst options might be in considering what to do and what aspects of county council services should be protected.
We value your thoughts and recommendations in order to work together to continue to provide the best possible service for the adults we support in Lancashire.
All the information you provide is treated in the strictest confidence and will be used for statistical and research purposes only.  Your personal information will always remain confidential and will not be passed on to any other organisation.
There are a number of ways you can make your views known:
