The Parent Carer Support Service has been funded by Children's Integrated services with the aim to ensure parent carers have a voice in how local services are developed to meet the needs of disabled children and their families.

  • We provide information and advice relative to the needs of the individual.
  • We hold regular monthly meetings. Forums– these are usually themed on areas of interest to so parent carers are able to raise any issues they may have
  • We refer parent carers for a Carers Assessment.
  • We try to ‘link’ parents with other parents who have a child with a similar disability via local support groups.
  • We promote known parent carer support groups within our locality .
  • We facilitate groups within the Carers Centre.
  • We actively support parent carer participation taking local issues to the County Parent Carer Forum.
  • We provide a home visit service to parent carers, we also welcome visits to the Carers Centre.
  • The parent carer support service regularly liaises with local agencies and organisations, both statutory and voluntary, to ensure positive outcomes for all parent carers.
